Syndication and Translation

If you are interested in syndicating or translating any of the posts on this site, you are not only free to do so, but actively encouraged! I won’t ask for any money from you and you don’t need my explicit permission, but you do need to comply with the CC-BY-SA license.

The exact terms of the license are located on the link above, but generally all you need to do is credit me and cite the license.

Here is an example of some sample HTML wording for how to do this:

This article originally appeared on Serge Wroclawski's blog. It's
licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported

Please do not simply write “Under a Creative Commons License”. There are a variety of Creative Commons licenses, each with very different terms, and I want the one I specified to be made clear to the reader.

If you are making some small editorial changes, you need to indicate that, such as adding the text:

Minor grammatical changes have been made from the original.

If you are citing me, I would appreciate a link to this blog, but also a link to my Twitter account, which is @emacsen.

In addition, please let me know that you plan on syndicating my post. I will probably want to link back to it!

You are getting my article for free. I won’t ask any money from you, but you are certainly welcome to, including advertisement, etc. But in return, I ask that you comply with the license. I think it’s a pretty fair arangement.

If you don’t comply, I will be sad.
